Higger Tor Observatory

This observatory atop Higger Tor in the Peak District hugs the highest point of the peak offering complete 360 views of the surrounding landscape and the sky above. Encapsulated within is a giant Astrolabe- an historical device used to predict astronomical movements, determine direction, orientation, time and much more. Enlarging the Astrolabe has created a group activity as well as an instrument large enough to give presentations to groups about its uses. To aid in such presentations and research, the building also includes a teaching room and sleep/study rooms below as well as supplying much information to the public as to how they might use the device for their own orientation.

Northern Quarter Library

A library with a difference, this building houses a collection of sketchbooks from famous artists and beginners alike. Fitting into the quirky persona of the Northern Quarter, Manchester by celebrating the process of creation and art.
