Project 1 – Apiary – The beekeeping centre

The project features a beekeeping centre located in Sheffield General Cemetery. The design involves a club house with reception, honey extraction lab and a multipurpose space for teaching and education, as well as a decked route that leads to four sheltered hives.

Project 2 – Perform – The Sound Well

The project features a music hall located in Sharrow Vale, a neighbourhood in the South of Sheffield. The design is for a small community concert hall tailored for different genres – from jazz to classical. It includes also a floor with music practice rooms that can be used for teaching and learning. The listening space is articulated in the traditional seating arrangement and in the ‘promenade’ form around two sound – and light – wells.

P3 – Housing – Women of Heeley

The project is located in Heeley and features a housing scheme dedicated to homeless women – single women and single mothers. The scheme involves transitional studio flats and semi-permanent 2bedroom flats. As a support for the rehabilitation of the inhabitants, the scheme includes a large community centre that hosts a series of services available to these women – reception, office, library, IT point, dining room, professional teaching kitchen, courtroom, showers – and the Mother&Child’s clinic, as an extension to the existing medical centre, which offers counseling, nursing and specialist medical support.
