Sectional Perspective

The informal facade addresses the public park space. Similar to colony housing, external stairs provide access to front doors on the 1st Floor. The stairs differ in width dictating whether they are about movement or conversation. Places for potted plants and hanging gardens begin to create a vertical garden between the floors, and shared landings encourages engagement between neighbours. Climbing the stairs becomes a journey and an experience, but it can be seen from the park. This punctures the building envelope with public space, and drags the private threshold down to the street edge. This in turn begins to blur the boundaries between public, shared and private space.
